You’ll meet faculty and students, tour our brand-new rehearsal hall and performance spaces, take part in hands-on music sessions, and explore exciting career paths in performance, music education, music therapy, and creative music media.

High school students, parents, teachers, and anyone interested in studying music as GCSU!

8:30 – 9:00 AM | Check-In
Arrive and get ready for a day of music exploration.
9:00 – 9:15 AM | Welcome
Kick off the day with a greeting from the Department of Music.
9:15 – 10:00 AM | Music Major Overview
Faculty presentations introduce our different programs and career paths.

10:15 – 11:45 AM | Campus & Facilities Tour
Explore Porter Hall, the new Music Rehearsal Building, Health Sciences Building, and more!
11:45 AM – 12:45 PM | Lunch at The Max
Enjoy lunch (provided for you and one guest). Additional guests may purchase meals at The Max.
1:00 – 2:00 PM | Breakout Sessions
- Students attend the Music Major Expo (choose from Education/Performance, Music Therapy, or Composition/Tech)
- Parents attend the Admissions & Financial Aid session
2:00 PM | Q&A with Students & Faculty

3:00 PM | Closing Session
Learn about auditions, scholarships, upcoming events, and personalized visit opportunities.

Share your feedback and indicate interest in auditioning.
3:30 PM | Ensemble & Lesson Opportunities
Meet ensemble directors and applied faculty for Choir, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Piano, and Percussion.
Registration
Registration is required to attend. Please register by February 2 to reserve your spot. Late registrations will be accepted as space allows.
Lunch is included for each registrant and one guest. Additional guests may purchase their own lunch.

Who should attend?
High school students interested in studying music, along with their parents or guardians.
Do I need to bring my instrument?
Yes, if you would like to participate in the ensemble practice at the end of the day. All other materials for interactive sessions will be provided.
What should I wear?
Casual, comfortable clothing for walking tours and participation in sessions.
Is there a cost to attend?
No—registration and participation are free.
